  1. QED 2023

    For those who aren't familiar, QEDcon is a two-day celebration of science, reason and critical thinking. It's an event where 600 skeptics from around the world gather in a hotel in Manchester to enjoy a mix of fascinating speakers, lively panel discussions, interactive workshops, and live podcast recordings. It’s a great social event, and it’s always a huge amount of fun.

    At time of writing there are still tickets left, but the Skepticamp and mixer events are unticketed, so if you can't or don't want to come to the full event, you can still come to those. The Skepticamp event will also be live-streamed on Skeptics in the Pub Online.

  2. A Dog’s World – Imagining the Lives of Dogs in a World without Humans – Jessica Pierce and Marc Bekoff

    What would happen to dogs if humans simply disappeared? Would dogs be able to survive on their own without us? A Dog’s World imagines a posthuman future for dogs, revealing how dogs would survive—and possibly even thrive—and explaining how this new and revolutionary perspective can guide how we interact with dogs now.

    Emotions can be a pain. After losing his dad to Covid-19, Dean Burnett found himself wondering what life would be like without them. And so, he decided to put his feelings under the microscope – for science.

  4. A critical perspective on what cognitive science can tell us about first impressions and stereotypes – Dr Lou Safra

    In this talk, Dr Lou Safra will present the key findings on first impressions and stereotypes offered by cognitive science. By presenting the main experimental designs that are used to product these results, she will question the limits and issues of this research and discuss how we can ensure a safe use of these results.
