Keith Still is the Professor of Crowd Science at Manchester Metropolitan University (UK) and has consulted on some of the world’s largest, and most challenging crowd safety projects. The main focus of his research is crowd science — crowd dynamics, crowd safety and crowd risk analysis. He also develops and teaches a wide range of short courses, covering crowd dynamics, crowd planning, crowd safety and crowd risk analysis, for event and venue management, emergency services and planners, city, building and licensing authorities, architects and security companies.

In this amusing and informative talk, he provides some background to crowd risks, crowd counting and the “behind the scenes” story of the Trump inauguration crowd size calculations, which gave rise to the phrase “alternative facts”.
