ThanksGeeking: GMSS Geek Pride Day '12
Come along to ThanksGeeking…a GMSS event that celebrates Geek/Nerd Pride Day(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nerd_Pride_Day). A firm annual favourite now, we’ve had bowls of petunias, the amazing fancy dress shenanigans, the fabulous Sci-fi & Geek pub quiz prizes? Did you consume the blue Vogon cake (and who knew they like chocolate chips?)? And what about the fantastic PICO? Well, if you haven’t been before, and you didn’t catch the magnificent Pico and friends from Puppetual Motion getting their geek on, then no fear, for the time is almost upon us again, and PICO WILL BE BACK!
So, it may seem a way away, but it’s time to think about a costume!*
Due to venue availability, this will take place on the 24th May- otherwise known as Geek/Nerd pride Eve, from 7pm. Watch out for the upcoming details on our various channels!
*Costumes are by no means a requirement to attending the event, but you may lose serious Geek Points if you don’t!
Greater Manchester Skeptics Social
If you're of a skeptical or scientific mindset and enjoy good company and good beers, come and join us for our monthly Manchester Skeptics in the Pub Social. We'll be meeting in Sandbar, which is located very near to Oxford Road train station and only a 12-minute walk from Piccadilly.
It's a brilliant bar with plenty of great beers at a reasonable price. There will be no speaker at this event, just good company and interesting conversation.
If you’ve never been to a social before, then don’t worry. We’re a friendly bunch, and there's no skeptical test you need to pass or anything :)Look for GMSS signs, probably A4 sized with GMSS and the jigsaw piece on it, and if you’ve never been before, then ask for Janis, Allan, Geoff, Rick, Alex or Gavin to get yourself introduced to a few friendly faces and settled in.
See? Lovely.
See you on Thursday, folks!

Greater Manchester Skeptics Social
Given the unfortunate act of bus that has robbed us of a night in the promising new social home we explored before Christmas, The Bulls Head, we’ll be having our regular monthly social at The Waldorf on Thursday 26th January from 7-to-7.30pm onwards. The Waldorf is just a wee walk up and across from Piccadilly Station, around the corner from Piccadilly Gardens and very well serviced by public transport for buses, trams and trains. If you want to come by car, then parking isn’t a problem either!
Go to www.gmskeptics.org to find links to parking maps, journey planning and such!
If you’ve never been to a social before, then don’t worry. We’re a pretty friendly bunch unless you start talking about homoeopathy. Even then, there’ll probably be a few barbed comments, then someone wondering if you’re after a pint.
